Climate Neutrality Workshop held in Valladolid

On the 28th of April 2022, Escan, Spanish energy consulting and a REMARKABLE project partner, organised a workshop in Valladolid inviting representatives from several Spanish municipalities and energy agencies.

Climate Neutrality Workshop held in Valladolid

The participants, namely EREN, AEMVA, APEA, SODEBUR, MUNICIPALITIES of León, Burgos, Valladolid, Belorado, San Mamés, Sargentes de la Lora, Castrillo Mota de Judíos and Prioro, as well as the Assembly of Madrid and the Town Hall of Rivas Vaciamadrid, shared their insights and made their contributions to the REMARKABLE’s Climate Leadership Programme designed with and for climate leaders.

The Spanish municipalities have presented their visions and objectives which will serve as a cornerstone for the elaboration of the REMARKABLE’s Roadmaps for Climate Neutrality. These roadmaps will translate strategic aspirations and policy ambitions into concrete and disruptive far-reaching measures which will aim public authorities in reaching their Climate Emergency and Energy Transition Agendas.

Several measures were agreed upon on this subject, such as the elaboration of the emissions and energy consumption baseline ensuring the collaboration of the private and business sector, civil society and the educational community, and the selection of the sectors with the greatest incidence in each municipality, and more.

The baseline of the REMARKABLE project is to identify who the local climate leaders are thanks to the ethnography study in seven EU regions. Escan presented the initial results of the ethnography study collected with a questionnaire and interviews in Spain.

REMARKABLE Climate Leaders will build new leadership capacity across Europe through a Climate Leadership Programme designed with and for climate leaders. Through a people-centred approach, Regional Energy Agencies will support leaders of public authorities and communities in implementing transformational roadmaps and innovative solutions to achieve climate neutrality.
