Cormac McCarthy is Climate & Sustainability Manager with Waterways Ireland, the largest of the North South Bodies set up in the Good Friday Agreement. He managed the development and currently implements the Waterways Ireland Climate Action Plan, one of the first public sector Plans on the Island of Ireland. He coordinates the organisations Heritage & Biodiversity Plan, recognising the clear linkages and synergies of the climate and biodiversity crises. He champions the public sector mandate to ‘lead by example’ and is a passionate advocate for community-led change where he has developed award winning projects on biodiversity, climate action, heritage, circular economy and the UN SDGs.
